As a child, I always dreamed about horses! My favorite toy was a Breyer horse named Lady! My sisters and I bought our first horse when I was 12. We put all our pennies together and bought an arthritic, barn sour gelding named Dandy. Our parents told us if they had to pay anything for the horse,  it was gone! So we babysat for neighbors at 50 cents and hour. It was worth it!

After all those years, I haven't grown out of them yet!

My first registered Appaloosa was a five year old stallion that had been starved and mistreated. I nursed him back to health, gelded him and he was one of the best horses I had ever had! We were together every possible minute. He was very smart and learned tricks easily. I loved riding him everywhere. We were
together for eight years. I have regretted selling him since that time. He really hooked me on the Appaloosa horses! I loved the color and the dispositions!

These days, I’m enjoying my own horses by trail riding. Whenever the stress of life’s changes or day to day trials weigh heavily, I’ve found nothing more therapeutic than a quiet ride down a trail with a friend or two, or spending quality time grooming and talking to “the girls” in the barn.
